Malakoff UTM Eco Run 2012 Report & Kakithon Gathering

This is my first race for Malakoff UTM Eco Run 2012. This is my territory and Alhamdulillah I won third placing in University Staff Category 15km race. The route was around UTM Johor Bahru Campus and the highest point is Balai Cerapan UTM the famous route for UTM students exercise/walking/running in the evening.

As everybody informed, Kakithon make this event as a gathering. Ong and his girlfriend came along from Genting Highlands, Chan from Singapore, Li Ting from Malacca, Ida from Negeri Sembilan, Lim & his girlfriend and Jiha & me just from JB. The faces that I missed so much plus the atmosphere we created when we met.

The goodies (not in a 'green bag' but in plastic), not friendly to environment and also the participants. The t-shirt (no brand), running number (only one!)..no voucher, or no whatever..

As a bottom line:

• Malakoff UTM Eco Run 2012 was lack of promotion among runners community.
• Runners community decided to ran at JB 10km Run event at the same day. The other race attract more sponsors & interesting goodies. Plus more placing to grab some cash money.
• Kakithoners gathering really make the day alive! Everybody satisfied with their cash money, the rest doesn't won the cash, they already in top 10 places. If in other races, top 10 placing usually have cash money.
• But money can't buy the relationship among us, the joy and the time we spent together.
• Is there any Malakoff UTM Eco Run 2013??

Malakoff UTM Eco Run 2012

UTM once again will be hosting Malakoff UTM Eco Run after the inaugural event last year. I missed the first edition and perhaps this year I can run with my new weapon on Sunday 25 November.

On 24 Nov, there were side event such as MTB Eco-Cycling to take a cyclist around UTM trail. Till now I wouldn't sure yet to take a challenge due to too lazy to wash my bike right after hitting the trail.

Jiha and I also targeting some placing in this event, as Jiha was a second place in Women Open Category (21km) in last year event. As my first time, I'm so lucky there were a UTM Closed category both for staff and students covered 15 km distance. So that's a great chance to me to conquer other staff fear of running up to that distance. Plus I gained back my Powerman fitness level plus my new weapon by Brooks..

This Sunday, perhaps the weather will be fair and I pray for extremely hot weather & sunshine, as that condition seems will advantage me than others.

As a bottom line, I must on the podium this Sunday. In Sya Allah

Be a Champion Again

Haha..

It was a very long time I won't be a champion since I was in my first degree study. But last 6 October 2012, again I was a champion. I won 10km night run for staff category in my organization which I work now.

It takes less than an hour to cross finish line and I'm RM200 richer after received a cash money from the organizer. I ran with one student and followed his pace. At the mid of distance, I managed to pacing him and secured him a sixth place to won a medal.

As a bottom line, winning or now was not my primary target on that night. I entered the race just to test my endurance capacity to endure my cardio & muscles for a distance more than 10km. Finally, I survived with a couple hundred of RM inside my pocket!

MUDS 2012: Kakithon Turned to be Kakikacau!

It was a sunny day on 19 May 2012, when the second leg of Malakoff University Duathlon Series 2012 (MUDS 2012) which had been held at Universiti Putra Malaysia, Serdang, Selangor. This was a second trip for Kakithoners went to the race fully sponsored by Malakoff Corporation Berhad.

The team show the increased number of participants, as Mr Blackopoulos participated in Men's Open Category,  Jiha in Women's Open Category, Wong & Syamsul Bahtiar (Men's Uni), Lau & first timer Afiedah (Women's Uni), Mixed Team (Afiq, Amirul & Tiang), last minutes withdrawn mixed team (Fikry, Gan Chau, Li Ting).

The result, Wong once again being a Kakikacau for Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia domination when he stole the fifth place in Men's Uni Category. Meanwhile, Jiha still on the podium when stood on second runners-up after lost to two white female racer. In Women's Uni Category, Lau & Afiedah seal 8th and 9th places, while our mixed team got fourth place, less a minute to kacau UPNM domination on the podium.

As a bottom line, Kakithon this year is not a strong contender for top podium finish. As we are now more concern in spreading & promoting the word "DUATHLON" among students in UTM campus. To compete & finished the race, is the main focus to keep an interest & implement 'duathlete' lifestyle among newbies. But we're still on the main track to be kakikacau for UPNM podium domination!

Proudly to announce an inaugural Malakoff-UTM Duathlon Clinic 2012 will be organized by UTM Sports Innovation & Technology Centre, in collaboration with Johor Triathlon Association and Mentor Training. Also Malakoff Corporation Berhad as a title sponsor for this event.

Cium Piala Walaupun Kalah

Format Piala AFF Suzuki 2010 yang baru menamatkan tirainya semalam, sesungguhnya menyebelahi Malaysia. Perlawan akhir yang dilangsungkan secara timbal balik di Stadium Nasional, Bukit Jalil dan di Stadium Gelora Bung Karno, Jakarta menemukan jaguh handalan Asia Tenggara pada suatu ketika dahulu iaitu Malaysia dan Indonesia.

Malaysia dikejutkan seawal kempen tahun ini dengan kekalahan memalukan kepada skuad Indonesia 5-1, di gelanggang keramat Indonesia. Namun begitu, keajaiban yang dicipta oleh skuad Harimau Malaya apabila layak ke separuh akhir walaupun hanya menamatkan saingan di peringkat kumpulan di tangga kedua di belakang Indonesia selaku juara kumpulan.

Malaysia menunjukkan keghairahan memburu Piala AFF Suzuki buat kali pertama setelah skuad tahun 1996 kempunan apabila sekadar menjadi naib juara, apabila impian menjadi juara dimusnahkan oleh Kiatisuk Senamuang dari Thailand. Vietnam menjadi mangsa Harimau Malaya di saingan separuh akhir 2010, sekaligus membuka peluang kepada skuad Malaysia memasang impian untuk bergelar juara.

Walaupun pada saingan akhir pertama di Bukit Jalil, Malaysia menang 3-0 ke atas Indonesia yang layak ke perlawanan akhir setelah mengenepikan Filipina pada satu lagi saingan separuh akhir, media Indonesia sibuk melancarkan perang psikologi terhadap Malaysia. Media di Jawa mendakwa penyokong Malaysia menggunakan pancaran lazer dan juga bomoh gatal-gatal bagi memenangi perlawanan akhir pertama tersebut. Ada juga yang mendakwa FAM didenda oleh FIFA dengan sejumlah jutaan ringgit akibat tindakan penyokong Malaysia itu.

Perlawanan akhir kedua di Stadium Gelora Bung Karno, menyaksikan pemimpin nombor satu Indonesia dan juga pembesar-pembesar kedua-dua negara hadir menyaksikan perlawanan bersejarah itu. Malaysia mendahului 1-0 melalui Safee Sali penjaring terbanyak kejohanan 2010 (5 gol), namun asakan bertali arus jentera Indonesia menghadirkan dua gol kepada mereka. Indonesia menang 2-1 ke atas Malaysia di gelanggang keramat mereka. Harimau Malaya yang terkulai, masih tersenyum bangga dan mampu mendabik dada dengan menyatakan skuad ini adalah yang terbaik di Asia Tenggara ketika ini setelah menjuarai kempen Piala AFF Suzuki 2010 dan memperolehi pingat emas pada Sukan SEA 2009 sebelum ini.

Mencium trofi setelah kalah adalah suatu situasi dungu yang berlaku pada malam 29 Disember 2010, yang tidak mungkin dapat dilupakan oleh seluruh warganegara Malaysia. Terdapat juga penyokong skuad Indonesia yang dungu kelihatan tercengang, termenung dan kusut fikiran setelah melihatkan situasi yang berlaku apabila saat skuad Harimau Malaya menjulang piala yang diidamkan setelah tewas 1-2 kepada Indonesia.

Tanggal 31 Disember 2010, pengumuman cuti umum seantero Malaysia dilakukan oleh Perdana Menteri bagi meraikan sambutan kemenangan sebagai juara Asia Tenggara yang baru. Walaupun kalah dan tercalar maruah juara, akhirnya skuad Harimau Malaya mencium piala dan rakyatnya cuti umum pula.

So, myself only focusing on grueling 2 weekends that will consist JB City Eco-Challenge, Johor Bahru on 31 May, and the next weekend is X-Terra Triathlon in Kuantan on 7 June. This two event I was aroused to participate. Perhaps my fitness level will increasing day by day towards this events.

Furthermore, I was excited to do adventure based activities/races. Because in JB City Eco-Challenge they include kayaking and mountain biking in that races. Also X-Terra Triathlon is the first X-Terra event will be held in South East Asia. An off road riding and trail running that I will confirm test participants fitness and skills at an optimum effort and level.
